Education, prevention, and early treatment are some of the most important tools in the fight against skin cancer — and at Dermatology Partners, we believe those conversations should begin early.
That’s why we are proud to partner with the RDK Melanoma Foundation and the Mike Schmidt Philadelphia Initiative to launch a new community initiative focused on teaching baseball and softball families how to stay safe in the sun.
This spring, our team joined representatives from the RDK Melanoma Foundation and Mike Schmidt for “Play Sun Smart” events with the Ridley High School Baseball Team, Ridley High School Softball Team, and the Doylestown Athletic Association.
During these events, Mike shared his personal journey with skin cancer and spoke with athletes, parents, and grandparents about the importance of sun protection, regular skin checks, and healthy habits that can reduce the risk of skin cancer while enjoying time outdoors.
Families received educational resources and sunscreen samples to help reinforce simple but important prevention steps both on and off the field.
We are excited to continue bringing “Play Sun Smart” events to communities throughout the greater Philadelphia area later this summer. Please visit our website for upcoming dates, news, and opportunities for your team or organization to join us in learning how to protect your skin for a lifetime.
