Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner
AJ Himmelsbach, MS, MSN, CRNP / ARNP, is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with more than two decades of experience in dermatology, emergency medicine, and correctional healthcare. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University, graduating cum laude, and went on to complete his Master of Science in Nursing, Adult Nurse Practitioner program at Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a Master of Science in Human Organization Science from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University.
AJ has extensive experience in both medical and surgical dermatology, including excisions, biopsies, tissue management, and wound care. He has worked in a variety of dermatologic settings across Pennsylvania and Iowa, including DermDox Dermatology, Main Line Dermatology, Berks Plastic Surgery, and DermaSurgery Specialists, where he trained alongside a Mohs surgeon. In addition to his dermatology expertise, AJ has provided emergency care in hospital settings and served as a correctional medicine provider, managing acute, chronic, and dermatologic conditions for underserved populations.
A respected educator and lecturer, AJ has served as a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and presented on dermatology procedures and skin cancer to professional organizations and community groups. He has also contributed to patient education through health writing, including publications with AAA Central Penn.
AJ is known for his compassionate approach, quick clinical decision-making, and ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues alike. His clinical interests include skin cancer detection and treatment, surgical dermatology, and patient education.
He maintains certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and holds active nurse practitioner and registered nurse licensure in both Pennsylvania and Iowa. In addition, he is certified in trauma, emergency care, and advanced life support. AJ is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and previously served on the board of the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners.
Outside of his clinical practice, AJ is a graduate instructor for the Dale Carnegie Course in Human Relations Management and is a proud member of the Vidocq Society in Philadelphia, PA.
