At Dermatology Partners, our Core Values guide everything we do — from the care we provide in our offices to the ways we support the communities we proudly serve. This Melanoma Monday, our team had the privilege of giving back in a meaningful way.
Dr. Kate Viola, Dr. Michael Hong, Physician Assistant Roshni Padhair, and the staff from our Sparks, Maryland office visited The Baltimore Station to provide complimentary skin cancer screenings for military veterans.
Led by Dr. Viola, the team spent time sharing lunch and conversation with residents who proudly served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. Together, they discussed the importance of annual skin exams and early detection in the fight against skin cancer.
“Serving these men who once served our country is truly an honor,” shared Dr. Viola. “Many veterans spent years outdoors protecting our nation, often without adequate sun protection, which can increase the risk of skin cancer. We want them to know it’s never too late to start protecting their skin and prioritizing their health.”
To support ongoing skin health, our team provided care bags filled with sunscreen and educational materials to help residents continue practicing sun safety every day.
Veterans have more than twice the risk of developing melanoma due to UV exposure during service, so it is especially important on Melanoma Monday to do these skin checks.
