Director of Marketing and Communications
Marissa Cockrell is the Director of Marketing and Communications at Dermatology Partners, where she leads brand strategy, growth marketing, and community engagement across the organization’s expanding network. With a passion for storytelling, operational excellence, and patient-centered outreach, she has played a key role in positioning Dermatology Partners as a trusted provider of dermatologic care across multiple states.
Marissa most recently held the role of Director of Marketing and Communications at the American Heart Association, where she led impactful campaigns focused on cardiovascular health, community wellness, and health equity. Prior to her work in healthcare, she spent over 15 years in professional and collegiate athletics, holding creative roles at NFL Films, Major League Baseball, and the University of South Carolina. Her storytelling campaigns earned three Emmy Awards, seven Telly Awards, and 10 Sports Video Group Collegiate Awards.
A respected voice in her field, Marissa has served as a guest speaker and presenter at national conventions, sharing her expertise on brand marketing, workflow management, and leadership in healthcare and media. In recognition of her impact, she was named one of the Top 100 Health & Wellness Professionals in 2025 by Redwood Media and was included in the 2024 edition of Marquis Who’s Who in America’s Professionals.
Marissa is also the founder of the Women’s Sports Video Group, an initiative dedicated to mentoring and elevating women in the sports media production industry. She actively volunteers with several organizations, including her local animal shelter, school board, and the American Heart Association. She also leads skin cancer screening awareness efforts for veterans, first responders, and underserved communities.
Marissa earned her Master of Science degree in Communications and holds dual undergraduate degrees in Electronic Media and English/Professional Writing from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
Outside of work, Marissa and her husband Chris, a retired Army captain, enjoy raising their four daughters—Caitlynn, Caroline, and identical twins Kelsea and Kinsley. She loves photography, gardening, holiday decorating, and family trips to Wildwood Crest and Disney World.
